ABOUT LOCATIONS

Planning a destination wedding at a German castle is an exciting journey, we understand that it comes with some considerations, especially about the venues.

Is it possible to incorporate American wedding traditions into the celebration at the castles?

Many American wedding traditions are widely known and commonly practiced in Germany, making it easy to incorporate them into a castle wedding. However, some customs, such as the rehearsal dinner - a pre-wedding gathering to thank the bridal party and family - are not traditionally part of German culture. That being said, we have organized numerous rehearsal dinners in various styles and fully understand their special significance for our American couples.

What are the available indoor and outdoor spaces for the ceremony and reception?

We always have a Plan B in place. While many of our couples love the expansive outdoor spaces of the castles for their ceremony, offering stunning views and an unforgettable atmosphere, the castles also provide elegant indoor settings for the reception, dinner, and celebration. This ensures that no matter the weather, your special day is flawless.

Could castles handle winter weddings too?

Castles are well-equipped to handle winter weddings or unexpected weather conditions. Most castles offer beautiful indoor venues with warm, cozy atmospheres that are perfect for colder months. From grand halls to intimate chambers, you can exchange your vows in style, regardless of the weather. Additionally, many castles have efficient heating systems to keep guests comfortable.

Are there any ethical considerations regarding the castle’s history?

At some castles, there may be specific guidelines or regulations to maintain the integrity of the property, including restrictions on certain decorations that could impact the architecture or surrounding landscape. We work closely with venue owners to ensure that the celebration is both respectful and in harmony with the castle's history. Additionally, many couples are drawn to the romantic, historical aspect of the castle for their wedding. Understanding the castle’s past and embracing its unique character can add a deeper layer of meaning to the celebration.

How does the venue handle waste and recycling?

The venue itself is committed to sustainability and responsible waste management. While our vendors bring everything necessary for the celebration and take any remaining items with them afterward, we ensure that all waste and leftovers are carefully managed in accordance with German regulations. This includes recycling all materials to minimize environmental impact. In Germany, recycling is not only a best practice but also a legal requirement, and we strictly adhere to this. The only things that stay behind are the beautiful memories created during your special day.

Are there English-speaking staff at the venue?

While many of our venue partners may not speak English fluently, rest assured that as your planners, we are here to bridge the communication gap. We will be by your side to facilitate clear and effective communication with all parties involved, ensuring that there are no misunderstandings and that your vision for the day is perfectly realized.

Is our wedding in Germany legally binding, or do we need to marry at home first?

Both options are possible. International couples can either arrange a legally binding civil marriage in Germany or complete the legal marriage in their home country and celebrate their wedding symbolically at the castle in Germany.

A legal marriage in Germany requires a civil ceremony through the local registry office (Standesamt) and the submission of the required documents. For couples living abroad, the process can involve additional paperwork and coordination, depending on their nationality and individual circumstances.

We guide you through the options early in the planning process and help you understand which route is most suitable for your wedding.
