What this budget tells you
Catering is always the largest cost and it should be. At 39% of the total, food and beverages across all three days represented the single biggest line item. At Villa Sorgenfrei, the €280 per person dinner figure reflects Michelin-influenced catering using regional Saxon produce alongside French Champagne, Italian charcuterie and artisan German bread. This is not a cost to minimize,it is the experience your guests will talk about for years.
Three days costs more than one but delivers far more. The Friday Elbe cruise and jazz band (€7,900), the exclusive museum tour (€1,053) and the Thursday vineyard welcome (€6,634) added €15,587 to the total. For guests who have traveled from the US, UK, Australia or further, a single day is rarely sufficient. A three-day weekend transforms a wedding into an experience.
The planner fee is 15% of the total. This covers full-service planning: venue sourcing and negotiation, vendor coordination in German and English, contract management, on-the-day coordination, budget tracking and all supplier communication across a three-day event. For couples planning from abroad, this is the service that makes everything else possible.
What is not in this budget: guest flights and accommodation (guests' own costs), videography (not selected for this wedding), wedding attire, honeymoon.
How does this compare to other European destinations?
A three-day wedding weekend for 53 guests of comparable quality in Tuscany would typically run €95,000 to €140,000, driven by higher venue premiums, mandatory vendor packages and the cost inflation in Italy's most popular regions.
In Portugal or Croatia, a similar experience would run €55,000 to €80,000, a smaller English-speaking vendor networks and fewer venues capable of delivering the combination of historic architecture, catering quality and logistical reliability that this weekend required.
Saxony delivered a three-day castle wedding weekend, Michelin-influenced dining, a private jazz cruise on the Elbe, an exclusive museum experience and a ceremony at an 18th-century vineyard villa - for €1,435 per person all-in including planning. That is the value proposition MyCastleWedding was built to deliver.
